It successfully extracts the addictive action-RPG elements from the hallowed Zelda formula, augments these with the visceral slice 'n dice sensibilities of God of War, and even throws in a fantastic portal gun during the third act. To top that winning cocktail off, Vigil Games has blended in their own post-apocalyptic, 'coolest parts of the bible meet comic books' visual style, and a well acted, 'Hellrose Place' bitch-fight drama. Darksiders has trampled my expectations and is a very early contender for action-RPG of the year. Saddle up, people. |
