PC Player was a videogaming magazine launched by Maverick Magazines in December 1993. The magazine covered PC gaming, with particular focus on the strategy, adventure and simulation genre. The core editorial staff included John Davison (Editor) and Paul Mallinson (Deputy Editor). Publisher Hugh Gollner had remarked that the magazine was “probably the best games magazine” he had been “involved with. For serious gamers it was just perfect — big fat, thorough reviews of serious strategy, simulation and adventure games.”
However, by issue 10, the page count had drastically decreased and the magazine had closed as Maverick Magazines itself was slowly closing its own doors in the publishing industry.
